BERGEN COUNTY (WPIX)—After going dark early Wednesday morning, the power is back for about 60,000 customers in southern Bergen County.
According to PSE&G, a transformer at the Ridgefield Substation failed during routine switching at about 9 a.m., causing outages in Cliffside Park, Englewood, Fort Lee, New Milford, Oradell, Ridgefield Park and Teaneck.
"This failure caused several 230,000-volt (230kV) transmission lines to trip out resulting in the shut down of the Ridgefield and Leonia Substations," said PSE&G.
The power outage also affected traffic lights in some areas.
Power was restored at 10:11 a.m. Wednesday.
