Steve Villanueva is a Traffic Anchor and a Meteorologist on the PIX11 Morning News. He is a native New Yorker and says he's lucky to be part of the PIX11 Morning News. Steve grew up in Flushing and graduated from Holy Cross High School. Growing up down the road from Shea Stadium, he is naturally a Met and Jet fan.
When it was time for college, Steve stayed local and commuted to New York University where he graduated with honors with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. He always loved Meteorology and later went on to complete the Broadcast Meteorology Certification program at Mississippi State University.
Steve has been forecasting and explaining the weather to viewers since 1997. He's forecast for local stations in Texas, California, Seattle, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, and finally here in New York. His forecasts have been approved by both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. He holds seals from both organizations.
Steve's parents moved to the United States from their native Argentina and settled in Queens, where they raised their three kids. Steve is the middle child. His older brother Sergio worked for the NYPD for 10 years, beginning in 1990, before transferring to the FDNY in 2000. In 2001 his brother was one of the 343 firefighters lost when the World Trade Center collapsed.
In his spare time you can find Steve at home in Fairfield county where he and his wife Noelle raise their two young sons Max and Jake. Steve is a simple guy. He likes good food, good wine, a good cigar, a good scotch, and a good soccer match. You can send Steve an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
