BELLFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY—Trial Judge John Cleland late Wednesday afternoon blocked a request by Jerry Sandusky's Defense Lawyer Joseph Amendola's motion to appeal the Judge denying a delay in the start of the trial. It was the latest development from a scheduled hearing in Centre County. That hearing began at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.
Sandusky's defense sought to have 3 of the 52 child sex abuse charges against him dropped. Defense Attorney Amendola asked specifically for the cases involving alleged victims 2, 6, and 8 to be dropped. He said in the case involving alleged victim number 2, in which former assistant football coach Mike McQueary claims to have seen Sandusky in a locker room shower with a boy was too much of a credibilty issue. The judge countered that a jury should get the chance to make that decision themselves.
Jury selection in the trial begins next Tuesday, June 5th. Testimony should begin no later than June 11th in Centre County Court.
