Twenty-three-year-old Rebecca Lynn Staplins of Killingly was charged Tuesday with second-degree assault, threatening, reckless endangerment and violating a protective order. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail pending a court appearance Wednesday.
Police say Staplins struck the man with a car Tuesday afternoon as he walked away from the store in Plainfield. Authorities did not identify the man, who escaped with only minor injuries after having rolled up the hood and windshield of the car.
Staplins couldn't be reached for comment. It's not clear if she has a lawyer.
