Furious rally falls short as Indiana falls to Ohio State

Indiana scores 15 points in the final two minutes but can't erase a big Buckeyes lead in a 52-49 loss.

BLOOMINGTON - Kevin Wilson continues to creep a little closer to a Big Ten victory, but the complete game continues to just escape his team.

As they were a week ago against Michigan State, Indiana gave eighth-ranked Ohio State fits for the better part of 60 minutes. But in the end bad pockets of play cost the Hoosiers a chance for a conference victory as a late rally fell short in a 52-49 loss to the Buckeyes at Memorial Stadium Saturday night.

Indiana falls to 2-4 on the season and 0-3 in the Big Ten.

The Hoosiers had the lead in the second quarter but could never get it back as Ohio State gained 578 yards of total offense. The Buckeyes built a 52-34 lead in the final minutes in the fourth but Indiana made it interesting in the final 1:40.

Duwyce Wilson caught a touchdown pass from Nate Sudfeld to cut the lead down to 11 and the Hoosiers recovered the ensuing onside quick. Sudfeld then hit Stephen Houston with a short pass and he did the rest, weaving through defenders to get the touchdown with 1:05 left. A successful two-point conversion had Indiana within three.

But the next onside kick was recovered by the Buckeyes who ran out the clock to improve to 7-0 on the season.

Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller-an early Heisman Trophy candidate-threw for 211 yards along with a pair of touchdowns while rushing for 149 and a score. For the Hoosiers, Houston finished with 91 yards rushing and two touchdowns along with two catches for 37 yards and a score.
