CARMEL- A recording device may have been hidden inside a bathroom of a local gym, and members were never notified. Fox 59 has learned the device was discovered inside a unisex bathroom at Five Seasons Sports Club in Carmel.
An employee tells Fox 59 she heard about the device last month from other co-workers. At first she thought it was a rumo, but then she says a manager talked to them about it.
"That same day later that afternoon I was actually told by an actual manager that that was true, but then also told us to not to say anything to any other employees or any other member about this," she says.
Fox 59 has learned the possible recording device was found in a downstairs restroom at Five Seasons. We're told it was attached by Velcro to a baby changing table and pointed directly at the toilet used by staff and club members.
"Stuff that I do in my privacy like in the bathroom was recorded. Like it doesn't matter if my face isn't on there, you've seen other stuff.. other areas," says the employee who wants to remain anonymous.
A source tells Fox 59 that a club member found the device and told management who then filed a police report. The anonymous employee spoke with police and says so far they have no leads on who put it there, but even detectives were shocked the club had not informed all its members.
While Five Season's managers won't comment on the story, the employee says they gave her, and a handful of employees, details about the device itself that indicate it was in fact recording.
"The way the camera was it was actually a chip. The chip can be removed and it can be downloaded into a computer."
