Jackpots in all three of the Hoosier Lottery's Big Jackpot Games -- Powerball, Hoosier Lotto and Mega Millions -- are continuing to climb heading into the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.
Saturday night's Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $91 million after moving through
Wednesday night's drawing without a jackpot winner. Four tickets nationwide matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number, during the drawing. A total of 18,689 prize-winning tickets were sold in Indiana for Wednesday's drawing, including 3,368 which increased their winnings by selecting the Power Play option. Wednesday's Power Play multiplier was 5.
Fourteen players matched five-of-six numbers in Wednesday night's Hoosier Lotto drawing, but no one matched all six which has allowed that jackpot to rise to $10.5 million for Saturday night's drawing. The current Hoosier Lotto jackpot run began after Tom and Gail Fox of Indianapolis scored a $24 million win in the drawing on June 22. The current run marks just the fourth time in the past 24 months that the Hoosier Lotto jackpot has crossed over the $10 million threshold.
Friday night's Mega Millions drawing kicks off the weekend for the Hoosier Lottery's Big Jackpot Games with an estimated $29 million jackpot on the line. The Hoosier Lottery's last Mega Millions jackpot hit came Feb. 1 when a ticket purchased in Munster, Ind., produced a $46.5 million win for five members of the Bolke family.
The Hoosier Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly and to always sign the back of their tickets.
As with all Hoosier Lottery games, the net income generated from the sale of Powerball, Hoosier Lotto and Mega Millions tickets in Indiana is turned over to the state. In fiscal year 2010, the Hoosier Lottery transferred $190 million to the state where it was allocated to teachers, police and firefighters retirement funds as well as the Build Indiana Fund which ultimately reduces Hoosiers' license plate costs.
