The Lilly Endowment will give the Indianapolis Parks Foundation $10 million to renovate and upgrade facilities at 13 Indianapolis parks. The grant includes improvements at Frank and Judy O’Bannon Soccer Complex on East 16th Street. Tarkington Park will also receive funding to begin a revitalization effort that includes playground upgrades, new shelters and a water feature.
Chuck Klein Softball Complex located on Rockville Road will see upgrades as well.
Other facilities will get upgraded playground equipment, new permanent restrooms and shelters, water spray upgrades, field upgrades and walking trails. Those include Beckwith Memorial, Bel Aire, Bertha Ross, Dubarry, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Gardner, Greene, Haughville and Stout Field parks.
The $10 million grant will be administered over a three-year period starting next year. The Lilly Endowment previously awarded the Parks Foundation a $7.3 million grant used to repair and upgrade tennis courts, install permanent restrooms and improve aquatic facilities.
