The unemployment rate in Montgomery County was above 9% in February.

That coupled with the tough job market everywhere made Monday's Hoosier Job Fair a big hit in the city of Crawfordsville.

In some ways the Hoosier job fair is a job seekers dream.  96 businesses with 2800 job openings set up in one room taking applications and talking to potential employees.

"I have learned it's all about trying to differentiate yourself between everybody else and trying to make sure people remember you."  Janea Mackins is a college student working on her masters degree.  She's been out of work six months.  After applying for more than fifty jobs in the Indianapolis area she's now looking for work outside of Marion County.

Employers with the largest number of jobs to offer are the US Department of Commerce which is looking for 1,000 Census workers.

Representatives from Congressman Steve Buyer's office says more than 2500 people attended the Hoosier job fair.
