The "New Moon" casting call is heating up.
Sources say Dakota Fanning, who can be seen in "Push" and heard in "Coraline" in 2009, has been offered a part in the "Twilight" sequel. Fanning would play a vampire elder Jane who brings judgment on the forbidden love between teen human Bella ( Kristen Stewart) and secret vampire Edward ( Robert Pattinson).
For those unfamiliar with the books, Jane is one of the guards of the Volturi, and ancient coven of Italian vampires. Jane may look young, but she's coldly evil, having the gift to cause others pain with her mind.
Fanning, 14, is just the latest to jump on the film's bandwagon. On Jan. 13, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" star Vanessa Hudgens was rumored to have auditioned for a part in "New Moon."
The first film began the love story between Bella and Edward. "New Moon" splits Bella's affection between Edward and werewolf Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Lautner recently confirmed his return as Jacob for "New Moon."
