Paul Giamatti ("John Adams") earned this comedy-drama - based on a Mordecai Richler novel - some extra attention by winning a Golden Globe for it. The honor was deserved, since he's excellent as a television producer understandably unhappy upon learning his rather colorful past is about to be exposed.
That prompts him to recount his own version of the events, especially where the women in his life (Minnie Driver, Rosamund Pike, Rachelle Lefevre) are concerned. Dustin Hoffman and Scott Speedman also star. DVD extras: two "making-of" documentaries; audio commentary by director Richard J. Lewis, screenwriter Michael Konvyes and producer Robert Lantos; red-carpet featurette; question-and-answer session. *** (R: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray and Movies on Demand)
