While traditionally offbeat director Terry Gilliam's fantasy has a bench of fine performers, it arguably received the most attention for including Heath Ledger, who died while the film was in production. Christopher Plummer has the title role as a traveling sideshow's overseer, who has promised to turn his daughter (Lily Cole) over to anyone who meets a strange challenge.
Ledger plays a man who has his own interest in the young woman. Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Jude Law, Peter Stormare and Verne Troyer - yes, "Mini-Me" - are featured as well. DVD extras: "making-of" documentaries; audio commentary by Gilliam; deleted scenes; Ledger wardrobe test. *** (PG-13: AS, P, V) (Also on Blu-ray)
