Eddie Murphy has had decidedly mixed movie fortunes of late, and this attempted comedy - which sat on the shelf for a few years - didn't help.
It's the story of a fast-talking literary agent who gets a gift from a self-styled guru (Cliff Curtis): a tree that sheds a leaf with every word the agent speaks, and when the tree dies, so will he. Naturally, that causes him to start watching his words more carefully. Kerry Washington ("Scandal"), Allison Janney and Ruby Dee also star. DVD extras: deleted scenes. ** (PG-13: AS, P) (Also on Blu-ray and Movies on Demand)
