The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is ready to Rock.
Actor Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, has been tapped to host Nickelodeon's 22nd annual awards show in which kids are the ones who call the shots and pick the winners. The slime-filled show will air Saturday, March 28, will telecast live from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion beginning at 8 pm ET/PT.
"For the first time Dwayne Johnson will host the ceremony, and we are very excited for him to make his mark with his big presence and kid-friendly style," says Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon's EVP of development and original programmin and an exec producer for the award show. "Dwayne is a pop culture icon and a Kids' Choice veteran who has been a presenter and a nominee for Favorite Male Movie Star. Our audience loves him."
Johnson adds, "Every spring I look forward to three things: the Easter Bunny, bass fishing with my bare hands and the brilliance of fluorescent green slime flying through the air at someone's face. That's why it's so cool for me to be hosting this year's Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards! What's great about this event is that it honors kids by honoring their opinion. The best way to do that is by me leading millions of kids into total chaos, crazy fun and endless buckets of slime!"
Johnson last appeared as Agent 23 in the summer's "Get Smart" and starred as a football player-turned-father in "The Game Plan." He'll next star as a cabdriver taken for a ride by two paranormal teens in "Race to Witch Mountain."
