Mike Myers is the latest star to think he has what it takes to explore "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty."
The industry trade reports that the "Austin Powers" star will take the title role in "Mitty," currently set up at 20th Century Fox.
Samuel Goldwyn Jr. is producing the project, now being adapted by Jay Kogen ("The Simpsons") from either the short story by James Thurber or the 1947 film featuring Danny Kaye.
Either way, the story revolves around a meek man whose real life blends into the background, but whose fantasy life includes exciting jobs and dangerous adventure.
An impressive number of A-list leading men have been attached to the project in recent years, including Jim Carrey and Owen Wilson. Attached directors have included Ron Howard and Mark Waters.
It's unclear how quickly Myers will be ready to do "Mitty" himself. He's lined up the comedy "The Love Guru" as his next starring project, while other upcoming possibilities include a turn as Who drummer Keith Moon in a biopic. Then there's the self-explanatory "How to Survive a Robot Uprising" and the even more self-explanatory "Austin Powers 4."
