The latest round of pilot casting buzz finds Rachel Nichols fighting extra-terrestrials for FOX and a pair of actors saying "Viva Laughlin!" for CBS.
The former "Alias" and "The Inside" star will take a lead role in FOX's "Them," from director-producer Jonathan Mostow ("Terminator 3"). Nichols will play an employee of Pasadena's Jet Propulsion Laboratory who becomes involved in some way with an alien sleeper cell.
Also at FOX, Trieste Dunn ("United 93") will join Julianna Margulies in the Denis Leary-produced legal drama "Canterbury's Law."
Over at CBS, "Viva Laughlin!," the network's geographically relocated adaptation of the BBC's "Viva Blackpool!," has added Carter Jenkins ("Surface") and Ellen Woglom to its cast. British actor Lloyd Owen ("Miss Potter") was previously announced for the lead role.
The "Laughlin" pilot is being directed by Gabriele Muccino ("The Pursuit of Happyness") and will be executive produced by Hugh Jackman, who will guest star.
Also at CBS, Jessica Collins has joined "The Man," which stars LL Cool J as an undercover cop who finds himself taking care of an orphaned boy. Collins will play a member of the cop's team.
But which Jessica Collins is in the pilot? The Hollywood Reporter casting story uses a picture of Jessica Collins, who appeared this season in ABC's "The Nine," but lists the credits for the different, blonder Jessica Collins who appeared in multiple episodes of "American Dreams" and "Tru Calling."
