LOS ANGELES—Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 22
TV viewers chose to rewatch an episode of their favorite CBS show (or catch one that they missed earlier this season) on Monday night, allowing the network to win the night in households with a 5.5 rating/9 share. ABC came in second with a 4.0/6 while FOX and NBC tied with a 4.5/6 each. The CW lagged far behind with a 0.8/1.
Among 18 to 49-year-olds, CBS was also tops with a 2.4. ABC came in second with a 2.2. FOX edged out NBC for third with a 2.0 to NBC's 1.7, while The CW brought up the rear ith a 0.4.
At 8 p.m., CBS started the evening with repeats of "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" averaging a 4.6/8 for the hour. The NBC year-in-review special "Today Looks Back at 2008," drew a 4.0/7, while a repeat of "House" on FOX tied with ABC's holiday special "Shrek the Halls" (4.0/7) and the first half hour of the movie "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" for a 3.8/6. The CW's "Gossip Girl" repeat mustered a 0.9/2.
CBS increased its lead at 9 p.m with "Two and a Half Men" (7.4/12) and "Worst Week" (4.6/7) repeats averaging a 6.0/9 for the hour. ABC's movie moved it up to second, while NBC's new show "Momma's Boys" slipped to third and tied with the fall finale of FOX's "Prison Break," 3.2/5. "One Tree Hill" dipped The CW to a 0.7.
At 10 p.m., CBS secured its victory with "CSI: Miami," 5.8/10. ABC held onto second with its movie and the second hour of "Momma's Boys" concluded with a slightly better performance, 3.4/6.
