The unofficial end of summer on Monday looked a lot like most other Mondays, at least as far as Nielsen ratings go.
That meant CBS ended up in the No. 1 spot on Labor Day with a 5.9 rating/9 share for the night. FOX was second at 5.3/8. ABC came in third with a 4.0/6, followed by NBC at 2.9/5. The WB (1.0/2) and UPN (0.4/1) both made very little dent, although those ratings may be affected somewhat by stations in transition to MyNetwork TV.
FOX scored a victory in the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.3 rating. CBS, 2.9, came in second. ABC finished third at 2.5, and NBC was fourth with a 1.5. Neither UPN nor The WB topped 1.0.
"Prison Break" won the 8 p.m. hour for FOX with a 5.6/9. CBS took second with reruns of "Two and a Half Men," 5.7/9, and "How I Met Your Mother," 5.0/8. A "Wife Swap" rerun was third for ABC. NBC got a 2.7/4 from the movie "Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Diff'rent Strokes." A "7th Heaven" repeat on The WB was fifth, beating "One on One" and "All of Us" on UPN.
CBS took the lead at 9 p.m. with a second "Two and a Half Men," 6.7/10, and "The New Adventures of Old Christine," 5.2/8. FOX's "Vanished" slipped to 4.9/8. Another episode of "Wife Swap" averaged a 4.2/7 for ABC, while NBC's movie concluded with a 2.9/5. A second "7th Heaven" kept The WB in front of UPN, which went with "Girlfriends" and "Half & Half."
At 10 p.m., a "CSI: Miami" repeat scored a 6.5/11 for CBS, easily beating ABC's "Supernanny," 3.8/7, and NBC's "Medium," 3.1/5.
