LOS ANGELES—"American Pie" actress Shannon Elizabeth's estranged husband wants a piece of the pie -- half in fact.
Actor-producer Joseph Reitman filed a lawsuit Wednesday, March 15 seeking half of all property and assets the couple accumulated during the five-year relationship before their marriage when they lived together, according to published reports.
Reitman, 37, began cohabitating with Elizabeth, 32, in 1997 when they agreed to "be equal partners in the acquisition of assets and in financial affairs whether such transactions were separate or joint" until their marriage in 2002, the lawsuit states.
Instead, he claims that she's been going behind his back and transferring those pre-marital assets, of which he deserves half according to their agreement and because he sacrificed his career to promote Elizabeth's.
Elizabeth and Reitman met on the set of 2001's "Tom Cats." They married soon afterwards on a beach in Mexico in June 2002. She filed for divorce in July of last year, citing irreconcilable differences. Although they have no children, the couple co-founded Animal Avengers, a nonprofit animal rescue organization.
Reitman had bit parts in two of Elizabeth's other films: "American Pie 2" and "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back."
Elizabeth is best known as the sexy foreign exchange student from the first two "American Pie" films. Her other film credits include "Scary Movie," "Thir13en Ghosts," "Love Actually," "Johnson Family Vacation" and "Cursed."
