A gamer stepping into the Octagon has about the same survival rate as a snowball in the Sahara. Thankfully, kindhearted publishers such as THQ create games to help simulate all of the fist-flinging, high-kicking action without the broken bones and severe concussions. Now, after several successful representations of mixed martial arts, THQ is back and ready to knock your block off with "UFC Undisputed 3."
With controls, animations and presentation that completely immerse gamers in the sport, it will be tough to find anyone in the genre that can stand toe to toe with THQ's hard-hitting series.

Twisted Metal PS3/$59.99/Feb. 14
The mysterious Calypso has offered a challenge to the world's most unstable combatants in the form of a winner-takes-all/loser-dies competition known simply as Twisted Metal. To win, all they need to do is survive. The last one standing receives the ultimate prize of one wish granted by Calypso himself. Now you must choose your sociopath, load up your death machine and start a wave of destruction the likes of which the world has never known.
"Twisted Metal" is a driving-based shooter that focuses mainly on multiplayer combat via online, while bringing the characters to life through a story-driven single-player mode. Your choice of warrior is extremely important, as it dictates your fighting tactics. Firepower can be found with Sweet Tooth the psychotic clown, who drives a tricked-out ice-cream truck that transforms into a robot, while Mr. Grimm finds maneuverability and speed in his motorcycle/chain saw combo. Multiplayer modes include Deathmatch, Last Man Standing and Hunted.
The "Twisted Metal" franchise has offered loads of fun for years now, focusing on multiplayer gameplay and warped humor. The latest incarnation looks to do the same.
