Bruce Willis is set to star in Disney's futuristic thriller "The Surrogates."
According to Variety, Jonathan Mostow ("Terminator 3") will direct the project, which could begin shooting in February in Boston.
Based on the Top Shelf Comix series, "The Surrogates" was scripted by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. The story is set in 2054, when humans have ceased to venture out into the world and use surrogates (remote-controlled artificial bodies) for all of their personal interactions. When a pair of surrogates are found murdered, a cop (Willis) has to leave his house and begin the investigation in the real world. And guess what? He discovers a conspiracy is afoot.
Willis was suddenly available for "The Surrogates" after Oliver Stone's "Pinkville" was put on hold due to scripting concerns in the wake of the writers strike.
The "Live Free or Die Hard" star has also been seen in "Perfect Stranger," "Nancy Drew" and "Planet Terror" this year. Willis has completed work on the dark comedy "Assassination of a High School President."
