Tickets to the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival sold out within an hour the day they went on sale in January. Here are three musical gatherings, including a Coachella-lite event in Palm Springs, worth considering if you crave a great outdoor rock experience.

Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party on April 15 is a free party, now in its third year, that’s timed between the double-weekend Coachella festival that’s April 10-12 and April 17-19.

Indie bands have been battling at pre-show competitions for weeks to win a spot on the outdoor stage from 5 to 11 p.m. The event will be in front of the Spa Resort Casino at 401 E. Amado Road.

BottleRock Napa Valley, May 29-31, is in its third year, and with that comes something new for 2015. Musicians Robert Plant, Snoop Dogg, Los Lobos, Imagine Dragons and a ton of other talent will share the fest with a stage solely dedicated to food events such as chef demonstrations and wine tastings. Expect sommeliers to pour and pair local wines all weekend long.

Tickets are on sale now; $109 for single-day general admission and $275 for three days.

Kaaboo, Sept. 18-20 in Del Mar describes itself as an “arts and entertainment mix-perience.” It’s three days of music from No Doubt, Sheryl Crow, Michael Franti & Spearhead and about 100 other acts as well as comedians including Jeff Garlin and Lewis Black.

You can sample wines, get a henna tattoo or have your hair blown out -- it’s that kind of three-day fun at the Del Mar Racetrack and Fairgrounds. Passes for general admission all three days start at $259.
