Deal: What can $10 get you? A rental car on your next weekend escape

Here’s a cheap way to add some flexibility to your next weekend break: Grab a rental car for $9.99 a day. The Enterprise offer is good through spring at select U.S. locations.

The deal: There are some caveats that come with this Weekend Special, but it’s good for those short on time who need an in-city rental car.

The $9.99 daily price applies to economy and compact cars such as a Nissan Versa. With this deal, intermediate cars such as a Toyota Corolla cost $14.99 a day, and full-size vehicles such as a Ford Fusion or Volkswagen Jetta cost $19.99 a day.

The deal applies to rentals Fridays through Sundays only and is available in cities such as San Diego, Denver, Miami, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Austin, Texas. You pick up at non-airport locations and receive 100 miles a day; it’s not unlimited mileage.

When: The offer is good through May 23.

Tested: I checked availability online for Nov. 6 to 9 and found $9.99 daily prices at locations in downtown Austin; the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle; and Hotel Circle off Interstate 8 in San Diego.

In Southern California, you can find this deal at 265 N. Robertson in Beverly Hills as well as 10799 Santa Monica Blvd. and 1435 S. La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles.
