This past August, Adam Allegro traveled to the coastal city of Pozzuoli along the Tyrrhenian Sea in southern Italy about five miles west of Naples. During his trip, he visited the Pozzuoli amphitheater, built in the first and second centuries. Pozzuoli amphitheater

The Pozzuoli amphitheater is Italy's third-largest amphitheater, behind the Colosseum and the Capuan amphitheater. The elliptical structure measures about 489 by 381 feet and once held up to 20,000 spectators.
