Napa Valley: New luxury spa resort VieVage to break ground in 2015

More luxury is on the way for Napa Valley. Plans were announced Thursday for VieVage Napa Valley, a new spa resort as well as the first hotel in a new “lifestyle hospitality brand.”

Auberge Resorts operates Napa Valley’s Auberge du Soleil and Calistoga Ranch as well as luxury properties in Colorado, Oregon and Mexico. The company statement said the new brand “will bring contemporary themes of design, community, locally sourced food, sustainability, fitness and wellness together in a fresh, active and social environment.”

VieVage will feature 110 cottage-like rooms designed around a central area with a restaurant, bar, bakery and on-site winery. Plans for a small brewery are in the works too. It will be built on part of the former Stanly Ranch in the Carneros district of the wine-growing valley.

The architecture will be contemporary but “inspired by the valley’s early farmstead buildings,” the company says. And gardens and orchards will reflect the area’s agricultural legacy. The hotel, which will be managed by Auberge, won’t break ground until next year and isn’t expected to open until 2017.

The site at one time was slated to be a St. Regis, the luxury brand that’s part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide.
