Renaissance Blackstone Chicago Hotel

The Renaissance Blackstone Chicago Hotel is a landmark hotel that opened in 1910. (Renaissance Blackstone Chicago Hotel)

Teddy Roosevelt slept here, and so did Jimmy Carter. It's the landmark Renaissance Blackstone Hotel Chicago, which honors U.S. presidents and President's Day with a quirky room discount: If you share your birthday with a president, any president, pay your age for a night's stay -- whether you're 35 or 105.

The deal: I found a list of birthdays for the 44 men who have served as president. (I share a birthday with Harry Truman.) You have to stay the night of your birthday to take advantage of the deal.

When: The offer is good through Feb. 16, 2014, based on availability.

Details: You won't see the discount on this deal until you present a valid ID showing your birth date when you check out.

No rooms were available on May 8, the birthday I share with Truman, when I checked availability online. I checked again for anyone who has an Aug. 4 birthday in common with President Obama and found a room with a king-sized bed, for $509 a night plus tax. Depending on your age, you save at least $410 for the night.
