Cyber Monday: Viceroy hotel discounts for ‘friends’

Want to get a jump on Cyber Monday deals? The Viceroy Hotel Group, which has properties from Palm Springs to the Caribbean, will offer Facebook fans a special code for discounts on hotel rooms on Nov. 27 and Cyber Monday (Nov. 28).

The deal: To get this deal, start by “liking” the Viceroy hotel of choice on Facebook. Fans will receive an access code that can be used for discount reservations on properties near and far. The deals at these Southern California hotels require a three-night minimum stay:

-- Viceroy Palm Springs, premium studio king room, starting at $75 weekdays and $150 weekends, excluding tax.

-- Viceroy Santa Monica, half off the best available rate.

When: The offer is good Nov. 27 and 28 for stays Nov. 29 to Dec. 30.

Tested: The sale doesn’t begin until Sunday, but I checked rates of what these rooms usually go for by using random dates in December. The premium studio king room at the Viceroy Palm Springs, for example, carries a standard midweek rate of $250 plus tax. Midweek rooms at the Viceroy Santa Monica start at $330 a night plus tax. In both cases, the savings are sweet -- if you have three nights to spare over the holidays.
