The front half of the plane. Because the paintable area on the 777 is 1.7 times bigger than it is on an Airbus 330, it took about three times as long to complete the paint job. (Tracy Brown / Los Angeles Times)
A closer look at the painted design. For the 777 plane, EVA had engineers spray-paint the characters directly onto the fuselage instead of using aviation-grade adhesive. (Tracy Brown / Los Angeles Times)
