Las Vegas: The Cromwell to open May 21

Share

The 188-room Cromwell, the onetime Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall, has set a May 21 opening in Las Vegas after a $185-million face-lift that mixes French design with contemporary decor.

The boutique resort began taking reservations Monday. They can be made online or by calling (844) I-AM-CROM, (844) 426-2766. A deluxe king room for that first night is listed at $299. Rates for the Friday and Saturday night of the long Memorial Day weekend for that same king room are listed at $399 a night. For a June 9-11 stay, the rate drops back to $249 a night.

The resort features the first-ever restaurant by TV personality Giada De Laurentiis. The chef’s second-floor eatery at Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road has retractable windows and offers views of the Bellagio fountains kitty-corner across the Strip.

The Cromwell will also have a rooftop pool beside a two-story day-nightclub by Victor Drai.

The opening is to take place just before Memorial Day weekend. The holiday is May 26.

As a sort of summer season bookend, another Las Vegas hotel is scheduled to open just before Labor Day. The 1,600-room SLS Las Vegas is expected to celebrate its grand opening Aug. 29. Labor Day is Sept. 1.

That resort is being carved out of the legendary Sahara Hotel, which closed in May 2011.
