Las Vegas: Eva Longoria’s SHe, other eateries to honor Mexican holiday

Share

Actress Eva Longoria will honor her heritage as SHe, the Las Vegas restaurant in which she’s a partner, celebrates Mexican Independence Day with special menu items leading up to the Sept. 16 holiday. Other restaurants will do the same

SHe, which occupies the space in Crystals in which Longoria previously held court at her Beso restaurant, will offer a $75 prix fixe meal Sept. 13-16.

The menu will include crab and lobster guacamole, pan-seared bass with a sour orange chimichurri sauce and crispy yucca and, for dessert, flan with fresh berries.

The flavors of Mexico will also be featured at China Poblano, a Chinese-Mexican fusion restaurant at the Cosmopolitan. From Sept. 13-16, guests can learn about various tequilas and mescals during complementary tastings each evening from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m..

The restaurant will offer a special Bandera cocktail replicating the colors of the Mexican flag using sangria, tequila and lime juice.

Those who overindulge are encouraged to try a traditional Mexican cure for hangovers: menudo, a rich and spicy soup made from cow’s stomach.

Tacos & Tequila at Luxor will stay true to its name during the holiday weekend. Authentic Mexican street tacos made with chapulin (grasshoppers), lengua (beef tongue) and bouche (pork stomach) will be served. To wash down the tacos, consider trying a “deer and a beer,” a concoction in which a bottle of Dos Equis is placed upside down into a frozen margarita, allowing the brew to slowly seep into the slush.
