Here’s a last-minute Fourth of July getaway for those who love the outdoors: Book Mammoth Mountain’s “Freedom of Choice” package for this weekend and get a $200 gift card. The card is good year-round for activities, such as skiing and snowboarding (available through Monday at Mammoth), golf, mountain biking and zip-lining; dining; nightlife; shopping; and more.

The deal: Book a minimum three-night stay at the Juniper Springs Resort, Mammoth Mountain Inn, Tamarack Lodge or Village Lodge and receive one $200 gift card for each adult on the reservation. Nightly rates start at $218 per room ($109 per person) in double occupancy, or $151.34 single, at the Mammoth Mountain Inn.

When: Valid for arrivals through July 6. Gift cards do not expire and may be redeemed for lodging and activities during later visits.

Tested: I found the $218 package rate for stays that began on a weekday. For a July 1-4 stay, the least expensive option that I found was a room with a shared bath at the Tamarack Lodge for a three-night total of $721.29 for two, or about $240 per night Next cheapest was a Juniper Springs Lodge one-bedroom condo for $883.29, or about $294 per night. Both included two $200 gift cards.

Without the promotion, the nightly room rates were $357 and $535, respectively.
