New Year's travel resolutions can save you money -- and more
Now it is the new year, and I can mend my ways. Here are some of my New Year's resolutions for travel mostly designed to save money -- or save you from false economies.

Resolution No. 1: Just say no to holiday travel( Mel Evans / Associated Press / December 29, 2012 )
This picture, shot Saturday at the Buffalo, N.Y., airport, explains (partly) why I will not fly during the holidays and why I will not let friends or family fly. It's way too expensive, and the weather can make it impossible to get there anyway. If you want to travel, do it at some other time of the year besides Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you want to see family, use video Skype. If you insist on going anyway, download the free FlightStats app so you can call your father and me and tell us just how late your flight will be. You know who you are.
