Capt. Stubing, Gopher and the rest of the “Love Boat” gang will reunite in November for the christening of the Regal Princess in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Six cast members were named godparents Wednesday of Princess Cruises’ newest ship.

Don’t know whom I’m talking about? Then you’re too young to remember the long-running TV comedy show with the catchy theme song that debuted in 1977. It showed America what cruising was all about -- with a heavy helping of cheesy romance.

“We can think of no more suitable godparents for our newest ship than the cast of the show that put Princess Cruises on the map,” cruise line President Jan Swartz said in a statement Wednesday.

Indeed, the series was shot on various Princess ships at destinations around the world during its 10-year run.

The christening of the Regal Princess on Nov. 5 kicks off celebrations in honor of the cruise line’s coming 50th year. Princess says there will be “Love Boat” deck parties or other golden anniversary events on all of its 18 cruise ships in 2015.

The Regal Princess will begin its first season of Caribbean cruise vacations from the Fort Lauderdale port this year. It holds 3,560 passengers and features an elaborate multistory atrium that serves as the ship’s social center; an adult pool area and spa; a glass-bottomed SeaWalk that extends beyond the edge of the ship; and balconies on all outside staterooms.
