In compiling my top 10 list for Legoland California, I tried to combine must-see attractions with one-of-a-kind rides you can’t find anywhere else.

Legoland perfectly hits its demographic of minivan-driving soccer moms and their stroller-bound charges and ‘tween siblings. The pink-knuckle rides offer a tiny dose of mild thrills for the littlest kids, who are often underserved at typical theme parks.

That said, the Carlsbad kiddie park features a disappointingly high number of attractions that parents can’t ride with their kids. Adults simply don’t fit in the rides, and exceptions are not made. To me, that’s half the fun of going to a theme park -- doing things together as a family.

Over the last decade, Legoland California has steadily grown in attractions and attendance. That pace may slow with the debut of Legoland Florida in 2011.

As with any guide, my picks are subjective. If you disagree with the choices, add your opinions in the comments section.
