Your Scene: Hippo cozies up to Tanzania camp
During a trip to Africa this summer, Karen Rubin stayed at the Grumeti tented camp in northern Tanzania. While there, she had a surprising encounter with one of the locals.
“I was unpacking, and this hippo wandered in front of my tent,” she said. “I nearly died.”
The hippo appears to be estranged from its nearby pod, Rubin said, so it wanders the campground -- and the staff and guests stay out of its way.
The Covina resident used a Canon EOS 7D.
