Las Vegas: Boutique hotel planned for Strip
When it opens early next year, the Gansevoort Las Vegas will bring something decidedly different to the Strip: a small, upscale boutique hotel. With less than 200 rooms, the new, low-rise resort will likely appeal to visitors who groan at the long lines and the extensive walking that are common at neighboring mega-properties.
Gansevoort, a small chain with a couple of hotels in Manhattan, on Monday announced that it will take over the recently-shuttered Bill’s Gamblin’ Hall & Saloon. With an ideal location at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, the new resort will be located just across the Strip from Caesars Palace and also close to the Bellagio.
Gansevoort is expected to pump $185 million into renovating the aging property. When completed, the resort will, according to a news release, feature “188 Parisian, apartment-style guest rooms including 19 suites.” There will also be a restaurant overlooking the Strip.
The property will also see the return of Victor Drai, who for 15 years operated a popular after-hours club at the hotel. The Gansevoort Las Vegas will feature Drai’s Beach Club and Nightclub, a 65,000-square-foot venue that will include a rooftop swimming pool.
“We are confident that the Gansevoort Las Vegas will be unlike anything that exists in Las Vegas today,” Michael Achenbaum, founder and president, Gansevoort Hotel Group, noted in a prepared statement.
