Hawaiian Airlines to start daily L.A.-Maui flights on July 1

Hawaiian Airlines will begin daily nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Maui on July 1, the carrier announced Monday.

Hawaiian Airlines will operate Airbus 330-200s, which seat 294 passengers, 18 in first class. The L.A. flight leaves 11:15 a.m. and arrives at 1:45 p.m. at Kahului Airport (OGG); the return flight leaves the island at 3:40 p.m. and arrives in L.A. at 11:55 p.m.

“We’ve seen tremendous demand from both Southern California travelers and our kama’aina (residents),” executive vice president Peter Ingram said in the announcement. “And we’re very pleased to offer this new daily nonstop service for them.”

Hawaiian in October announced seasonal nonstop service from Los Angeles to the Big Island and Kauai starting in June.

Since 2010, the airline’s international service has added such destinations as Tokyo and Osaka in Japan; Brisbane, Australia; Auckland, New Zealand; and Seoul. In July, it began flying to Tapei, Taiwan, and will begin service to Beijing in April.
