Old Town San Diego Art Festival

When, where: Sept. 20 and 21, Old Town San Diego

Highlights: More than 150 international artists converge on historic San Diego Avenue while potential patrons view their works, sip wine and groove to live Latin and jazz music.

Cost: Admission is free; $15 gets you four wine tastings, two appetizers and a collector glass.

SOLVANG

Danish Days

When, where: Sept. 19 to 21, throughout Solvang

Highlights: Celebrating the town’s heritage with folk dancing, Scandinavian foods, craft demonstrations, a Viking reenactment, Hans Christian Andersen storytelling, a dinner dance and three parades.

Cost: Free, though a $3 donation is encouraged and certain events, including the breakfast and dinner dance, are at extra cost.

BAJA CALIFORNIA

Rosarito-Ensenada 50-Mile Bike Ride

When, where: Sept. 27, in and between Rosarito and Ensenada

Highlights: The 29-year tradition ends with this ride. Afterward, a fiesta on the Ensenada waterfront with musical and culinary talents.

Cost: $35 to $45, which goes, in part, to Mexico’s Red Cross.

When, where: Nov. 28 through December throughout Yountville. The Nov. 28 festivities are 2 to 6 p.m.

Highlights: Thousands of holiday lights illuminate carolers and elves. Food festival Nov. 28 includes more than 20 wineries and the region’s top restaurants; Santa arrives at 2 p.m.

Cost: Free, though tasting tickets cost $1 each.
