San Luis Obispo will give travelers $100 just for visiting
There can’t be a better reason to visit San Luis Obispo in winter. Stay two nights in local lodgings and receive $100 cash to spend as you wish.
It’s an annual promotion for the first 500 travelers who jump on the offer between now and March 31.
Once there, you can craft a DIY tour of the Central Coast city at places that won’t cost you a dime.

Start with Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa at 751 Palm St., which was established by Father Junipero Serra in 1772.
Other free places to go include the San Luis Obsipo Museum of Art at 1010 Broad St., and the Monday Club at 1815 Monterey St., a historic building by architect Julia Morgan, who designed Hearst Castle.
But back to the deal. Follow the rules at the city’s website to get the $100.
The two-night stay can be at any lodgings in the city, from a Super 8 by Wyndham to the funky Madonna Inn. (You don’t get the cash if you crash on your cousin’s couch.)
Then you have to email your reservation to info@sanluisobispovacations.com. The reservation plus a confirmation letter you’ll receive and a room key qualifies you for the $100. Show up with all three at the San Luis Obispo Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center at 895 Monterey St. to collect.
Blackout dates are this weekend and Feb. 16-17.
