Las Vegas resorts expanding poolside offerings

Several resorts will be upping the poolside ante this summer.

At Aria, the biggest hotel at recently opened CityCenter, guests have their choice of three large whirlpools and three even larger pools. The cabanas include 42-inch LCD TVs and iPod docks. The trendy Palms Pool & Bungalows is launching a poolside party under the stars on Friday and Saturday nights, with live DJs (cover charge). The place will also energize Sunday afternoons beginning May 9 with the new SunDance party; (702) 942-7777, https://www.palms.com.

As part of a multimillion-dollar makeover, the Tropicana Las Vegas, which turned 53 earlier this month, is transforming its 4-acre pool area into a tropical beach resort complete with its own nightclub; (888) 826-8767, https://www.troplv.com.

Not to be outdone by Aria, its big sister at CityCenter, Vdara offers guests an exclusive spa cabana. There’s also an open-air lounge with tasty tapas, including a creation called “fried lobster corn dogs”; (866) 745-7767, https://www.vdara.com.
