Las Vegas: Even last-minute, rooms for New Year’s Eve as low as $124

If you want to go to Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve, you can still find hotel rooms some at surprisingly low prices.

Just don’t expect to snag a deal at a Las Vegas hotel for a one-night stay. You’ll quickly discover that most (but not all) hotels require a two-night minimum.

Most partyers will want to be on or near the Strip when the clock strikes 12, so that’s where I’ve looked for what’s still available for two nights arriving Tuesday, Dec. 31, and departing Thursday, Jan. 2.

The best per-night price I found was at the Riviera, where rates start at $124. The Stratosphere has rooms starting at $140.37. Excalibur, which is more centrally located, offers rooms from $171.31.

One-night stays – arriving New Year’s Eve and checking out New Year’s Day – are available at a handful of resorts along the Strip.

Travel website Vegas.com has rooms at the Monte Carlo for $368 for one night. (FYI, the hotel’s website requires a two-night minimum.)

Those who want to splurge can still book a New Year’s Eve room at the deluxe Mandarin Oriental for $645. The other high-end hotels I checked – such as Bellagio and the Four Seasons – weren’t offering one-night stays.

Even lower rates from these hotels (I checked Thursday morning) may be available on other websites. Experts say those rates can change several times a day in the run-up to New Year’s Eve. And remember, quoted rates usually don’t include taxes and the resort fees. As always, it’s a good idea to call and see if there are any other rates that aren’t indicated online.
