Opening Day Lake Tahoe festivities celebrate summer

Opening Day Lake Tahoe: The summer season kicks off with two packed days at the lake, including a geocaching treasure hunt, in which teams armed with a GPS system and a set of clues search for prizes; concerts by Jewel, Lindsey Buckingham and Sammy Hagar; the Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race; and the Blue Avenue Block Party, with a beauty pageant, live music, hot rod displays and Tahoe restaurant fare.

When, where: June 16 and 17, 2007 at locations in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Stateline, Nev.

Admission: Many activities free.
