Did we get it right? Where should we have gone?

My Daughter and I just returned from Best Friends. We took two of my grandsons with us. What a wonderful trip. I can hardly wait until we can retun. From the moment we left Highway 89 to enter the sanctuary, we felt the love, bouncing off the many red rocks and floating on the breeze. It is a different world.We volunteered at Cat World and Old Friends in Dogtown. The tour was wonderful. There is just no place on earth closer to heaven than Best Friends
2. Thanks for posting the secret spot picks. This is not a disservice to us. It's informative and helpful, much like Huell Howser's Califonia gold show on PBS. If you don't know, you won't go and that's just plain ignorance.
3. Any one or even better Robert Danforth please contact me at gayle@sdccu.net regarding Box Canyon in Texas. Thinking about checking it out in November; would like more information about Box Canyon. Yes I located it and I have several questions. Did you kayak the canyon? Is there a specific hiking trail that you would recommend? Did you enter through the Amistad National Recreation Area or straight off HWY 90 on Box Canyon Road? Are there caves to explore once inside the canyon? Do you need a 4 wheel drive to get to the canyon? Do you have any pictures you can e-mail?
4. The Yosemite Valley is a beautifully awesome, peaceful and quiet place to enjoy natures wonders!
5. frankly all these "exposing secret spots" can go stuff it...the point to a secret spot is that it maintains secrecy. you are doing everyone at both ends of the spectrum a disservice in the name of ratings. you stink.
6. You missed the "Swiss Alps "of America! That's O.K., most do. Mineral King Valley, located within Sequoia National Park in California, is a step back in time and a visual feast. The 24.9 mile long road to the valley is not only less traveled. Boasting a Hana Highwayesque 637 hairpin turns on the steep, single lane-with-no-guardrails ascent, it is not for the faint of heart. Views of the glacier-formed, snow- capped peaks make the trip worthwhile.Black bears, mule deer, and marmots roam freely in their natural habitat. While the other spots are indeed special, Mineral King Valley is truly spectacular!
7. Best Friends renews your hope for the future. I've supported it for about 15 years and last year became involved as a Network Volunteer. We visited in July and I felt at home from the moment I set foot in that breathtaking canyon, cried at Angels Rest where we have a memorial for one of our cats and spent the afternoon volunteering. The impact this organization is having on educating people about kindness to animals can truly change the world and I'm proud to be a very tiny part of it.
8. What about the Apache Trail in Arizona?
9. Words can't explain the time, talents and dedication of the employees are Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, UT. Christy, our girls - Celine and Lena and I just spend a week volunteering in late July and early August 2008. We had the opportunity to work with cats, rabbits, dogs, pigs and horses. We got a lot more out of it than we put into volunteering. Christy wanted to plan this trip for her birthday and she cherished this trip more than a new diamond ring or bracelet. Give back to others and go volunteer at Best Friends, you will not regret going. Phil Jones
10. One of the best places i like is Cayon de Chelly (pronounced Shay) on the Navajo reservation in AZ. its like a rustic mini Grand Canyon that time and development have forgotten. Also recommended is Chaco Canyon in NM, very far from everything and has wonderful preservation of ancient Anasazi site.
