Airportdiscountparking.com gives tips on airport parking

I hate to pay big bucks to park my car at LAX, so I thought a site called www.airportdiscountparking.com would be just the ticket to save some cash.

What’s hot, what’s not: From a pull-down menu, I chose LAX and June 27 as a random date. The site spat back two parking lots, ParkAir Express and Park ‘N Fly, with self-park and valet park options.

Being a cheapskate, I went with the self-park. Did I get a discount? Yes, you get a coupon for one day free if you stay three days at either of the two lots (not including taxes). But that didn’t work for Burbank, where I got one name: Empire Parking. (The site did not list the lot’s new name, Southwest Parking.) The lot was sold out for three dates I tried in May, June and July. John Wayne? The site didn’t even list it.

A better website is the Bay Area-based www.aboutairportparking.com, which doesn’t promise discounts but is a compendium of rates, directions (on Google maps) and user reviews and comments about airport lots around the world, including John Wayne.
