Where Am I? Among the dead, half-expecting a meow

The sphinx, it turns out, is a memorial to soldiers who fought in the American Civil War, and it crouches in a cemetery that was already busy burying people before the Union and Confederate troops starting shooting. Given the Egyptian look of this thing, it would be cool if this were Memphis, Tenn. -- but it's not. Guess the burial grounds, the city and, while you're at it, the VIP buried nearby.
