Englishman Graham Russell and Australian Russell Hitchcock met in 1975 while performing in the Australian production of the musical “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Later that year, the duo formed Air Supply and released their first hit and self-titled debut album, which went gold in Australia.

Now the Australian soft-rock group returns to The Orleans Showroom for three shows over Memorial Day weekend May 22-24.

The band made its U.S. debut after opening for Rod Stewart’s tour in the late ’70s.

Air Supply’s album “Lost in Love” featured three U.S. top five singles, including the title track, which was the fastest-selling single in the world. Other hits included “Every Woman in the World,” and “All Out of Love.”

They released “Mumbo Jumbo” in May 2010, and the single “Sanctuary” was released in December 2011.

With 30 albums and more than 15 hit singles, Air Supply is one of the best-known soft rock performers in the world.
