Aye, matie: You can visit Springs Preserve to learn about pirates

Share

Pirates take over Springs Preserve, the 180-acre family destination three miles west of the Strip, for “Pirates: Myth and Merriment,” which begins Oct. 3.

Kids and adults alike can find out what it was like to be a pirate at sea during the 1700s and 1800s. Sea shanties and pirate songs are part of the show that breaks down the legends and myths behind the lives of pirates.

A lucky few aspiring pirates can take part in challenges on the Jolly Rancher pirate ship, and success earns them an eye patch.

Those who want to be sworn in as a crew member can head to the harbor recruitment office to get a gold coin for admission. On board, potential pirates can get a certificate and eye patch as well as take photos with the captain of the Jolly Rancher and the treasure he scored.

The show runs on weekends through Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The show is free with admission, and getting on board the ship is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers. Admission to the Springs Preserve is $18.85 for adults.
