Capital La Paz may be the seat of Bolivia's government, but Lonely Planet dubs Sucre "the most beautiful city and the symbolic heart of the nation." It's inexpensive too. The UNESCO World Heritage City, founded in the 1500s by Spanish colonials, features white-washed buildings. Expect to pay $72 a night for a hotel room in Sucre and $50 to $90 in La Paz.
