Keep La Cañada’s float beautiful

It’s been announced that the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn. is launching the competition for our 2014 Rose Parade float. “Entries should be brief, easily understood, whimsical or humorous and highly animated,” according to the rules.

La Cañada isn’t whimsical or humorous, nor are we “highly animated.” We’re beautiful! So why can’t we have a beautiful float? A float covered with flowers and a beautiful queen and her court instead of seeds, rice and a silly, laughable arcade-like animal? A float that would be a Sweepstakes Winner instead of taking a prize for being merely funny or animated?

La Cañada is beautiful. Why can’t we have a beautiful float?
