Crescenta Valley Crime: Two Rolex watches and white gold ring stolen from La Cañada home

Aug. 11

Grand theft: 4400 block of Rockland Place. A woman called the sheriff’s department to report the theft of two Rolex watches and a white gold ring with a 1.25-karat diamond from her home. The victim said no one has access to the home, aside from a cleaning lady who hadn’t been there since July 21. The victim had no security system or camera in the house. There were no signs of forced entry. No fingerprints were ordered, as the victim had touched the box several times since noticing the pieces were missing.

Grand theft: 4200 block of Shepherds Lane. A man reported that sometime between 11 a.m. the day before and noon that day, an Apple MacBook Pro was stolen from his backyard outdoor entertainment area. The victim said he always kept the computer connected and in plain view so he and his family members could use it whenever they wished. He said he believes the suspect may have entered the yard by jumping a wall to the south that separates his yard from a neighbor’s. The victim was unable to provide the computer’s serial number.

Aug. 16

Petty theft, unlocked vehicle: 4400 block of Shepherds Lane. A woman reported that sometime between 9:30 p.m. the night before to 9:30 a.m. that day, someone stole an iPad and a Global Positioning System (GPS) from her unlocked 2006 Honda Element while is was parked toward the rear of her house, down a long driveway. When she returned to her vehicle, she noticed the missing GPS device and immediately searched for the tablet in the cargo area of her vehicle to find it missing as well. Fingerprints were ordered, but no witnesses could be located.

Aug. 12

Petty theft: 3100 Los Olivos Lane. A woman reported that sometime between Aug. 6 at around 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. that day, someone stole an Avon bag containing miscellaneous cosmetics from where it sat outside her front door. An Avon salesperson, the woman said she typically leaves the items outside so clients may pick them up. When one client told her she’d never received her items, the woman concluded they must have been stolen. No security cameras could be located, and the victim said she didn’t see anything suspicious in the area, but she did recall that on the previous day, a landscaper’s business card had been dropped off at her doorstep.

Aug. 13

Petty theft: 2900 block of Community Avenue. A student at Crescenta Valley High School told a deputy that around 3 p.m. he’d placed his cellphone and wallet inside his unlocked locker in the locker room. When he returned to the locker room at 5:45 p.m., he noticed both items were missing. No school or security personnel were present at the time. The victim said his phone does not have GPS capabilities, so its location could not be tracked. He told officers when he called his own number, the call went straight to voicemail. There was no video surveillance in the locker room.

Aug. 15

Petty theft: 2700 block of Fairmount Avenue. A woman said her iPhone was stolen from her place of work, a family residence, sometime around 3 p.m. after she left it unattended, either in the bathroom or near the front door. The only other person present in the home was the homeowner, whom the victim believes was the culprit.
